Seven Deadly Sins

I originally found it a tad tricky to come up with the right idea for this theme and represent the ideas of each sin in a different yet appropriate way. How do you make the seven sins sellable. The theme  may not be everyones cup of tea, but how could I portray it in an artistic catching way without it being too dark and dreary. I enjoyed the challenge…

Devils of Gotham

My first concept was to pull pages from an old Thesaurus and match each sin with that of a fictional character. I wanted to keep the characters in the same theme and after quite a bit of brain storming I settled on the Batman bad guys. It took some time to match a sin with a villain, they all kind of have a cluster of sin like qualities, so it came down to a list of who had the most what and my own best judgement. I then made the decision, after much to-ing and fro-ing, to represent each character as the actors who played them in the 90’s movies I grew up and loved as a kid. The placement of the pages and drawings were crucial as well, I wanted the words of each sin to sit beside the drawings well enough to be seen. Therefor the placement of the faces were just as important, as you can see though, it all came together in the end.

Royal Sinners

I drew this piece more for me than anything. I love emblems, emblem designs and symbols of regalia. I wanted to create a series of royalesque type characters who each resemble their sinful titles and fit inside a symmetrical emblem designs.`1
